Tropical Pools has been in operation since 1991. Robert Kirk, owner, acquired Tropical Pools in 2001.

Before taking over Tropical Pools, Bob was a custom homebuilder for twelve years, building upper end custom homes in the Indianapolis market.

In addition, Bob is also a licensed architect in Florida, which has proven very beneficial in developing unique yet cost effective pool designs for his clients. If there’s a minor problem with one of our pools after completion, it becomes Bob’s top priority in the office to get that item corrected, where other pool contractors sometimes place it at the bottom of their list.

Bob's philosophy is carried throughout the business today:

"Managing a pool project is a very similar process to managing a custom home."

  • Always listen to what your client is telling you.
  • Concentrate on getting the pool completed as expeditiously as possible.
  • Maintain good communication with your client during every aspect of the contract.
  • Until the punch list is complete an the client is satisfied and happy, the project isn't complete and we're not done.

"In addition, we have a few more items that are added to our management process."

  • Start the work when you said you were going to start.
  • Maintain communication with the home builder.
  • Keep the construciton area starightened up at all times.
  • Make the subs clean up their construction and lunch mess daily.
  • If there's a minor glitch in the schedule, keep the builder informed.
  • Finish when you said you'd be finished, and if there is a problem, let the builder know.
  • Do our own internal punch list, and complete the owner's or builder's punch list within a week of receiving it.
